Water Purification System plus Supply of SIX Water Coolers for 458 Student and 26 member staff of Arroub Camp Boys School

In the year 1948, Palestinians were uprooted from twenty cities and about four hundred villages; about seven hundred thousand Palestinians i.e. 66% of the residents of Palestine became homeless; this represented the complete deterioration of the Palestinian society with all its components and bases; it lead to the emergence of a new phenomenon in the Palestinian society which is the Palestinian Refugees Camps that spread in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and neighbouring countries: Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon and the rest of the world. One of these camps is Arroub Refugee Camp. These camps which bear witness to the catastrophe, homelessness and uprooting of Palestinians from their lands and homeland symbolize their daily sufferings on all levels: cultural, social, economic, and political. They still exist up till this present moment waiting for a political decision to put an end to their pain and suffering. In the human history there is not any crime which is as brutal as the crime of forcing Palestinians out of their lands in 1948 at the hands of the Occupiers; this was later called the Palestinian Nakba (Setback) .

Income –Generating Appeal Location: Arroub Camp, Hebron, Palestine Beneficiaries: Banat Extended Family – 21 persons

Providing for a family of seven is a daunting task. However, for Brother Daoud Youssef Banat, this is the smallest of his problems. Brother Daoud lives in the Palestinian refugee camp of Arroub, which is located in the north of Hebron province, the southernmost province of the West Bank. Arroub camp was established in 1948 to accommodate Palestinian refugees who were uprooted from their villages. New refugees arrived in the camp after the Arab-Israeli war of 1967. Today, 1,284 Palestinian refugee families – about 9000 persons – live in extremely crowded conditions and great poverty in this camp. There are few job opportunities and most men are obliged to work in Israel to make a living. Brother Daoud is a former Israeli prisoner – his crime being that he attempted to return to his village of origin – and has since been denied a work permit by the Israeli authorities.
