Al-Madina Orphanage & Children’s Academy – Baniachong Construction by The Lady Fatemah Trust

Al-Madina Orphanage and Children’s Academy currently caters for over 200 Orphans in the rural area of Baniachong. The village of Baniachong is considered to be largest village in the world, consisting of 337 mohallas. Baniachong has a population of 235,855.

Males constitute are 50.84% of the population, and females 49.16%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 115151. Baniachong has an average literacy rate of 20.8% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.

Orphan Sponsorship
Orphans at the Al-Madina Orphanage, receive some support through local donors, albeit very little. Most Orphans will be sent to the academy simple because they can guarantee at least two meals a day. Clothes are not provided. Tuition fees are taken from those who can afford it, whilst the extremely poor Orphans will provide grain if that is possible.

The cost of Orphan Sponsorship Can is broken down as follows:

Sponsorship money is NOT given in bulk payment to the academy; it is administered by a local Orphans Manager into:

Purchase of Clothes & Shoes (twice a year) during 2 Eids	Managed directly by Orphans Manager and Monitored
Tuition Fees paid on a monthly basis based on attendance records
Stationery & Books supplied at beginning of academic year and exam fees as and when required
Food Costs, supplied on a monthly basis (if practical by way of grain)
